• The Sterile Disposable Virus Sampling Kit is intended for the collection and transport of clinical specimens to the laboratory for standard diagnostic/identification techniques
• The Kit consists of a sterile swab and culture-based media that can be used for respiratory viral diagnostic assays including: Influenza A and B, Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), Parainfluenza, Adenovirus, and Rhinovirus
• The Sterile Disposable Virus Sampling Swab Kit has a two (2) year shelf-life
• Specimens are normally collected from the oral cavity, throat, and nasopharynx
• Viral Transport Medium (VTM) is manufactured in accordance with CDC March 2020 Viral Transport Medium recommended formulation; does not contain guanidine thiocyanate
• Flocked swab: Innovative jet-embedding nylon adhered vertically and uniformly on the surface of swab tip, improving the efficiency of collection and release of cells/liquid samples for improved analytical sensitivity
• The BioTeke Viral Transport medium, provided by VTP, consists of modified Hank’s Balanced Salt Solution supplemented with glucose; The pH is buffered with sodium bicarbonate; Phenol red is used to indicate changes in pH; Gentamycin and Polymyxin B are incorporated in the medium to inhibit growth of competing bacteria and yeast; the medium is isotonic and non-toxic to mammalian host cells
