Why does The Breather have six inhale settings but only five exhale settings?
Inhalation and active exhalation engage different muscle groups. The diaphragm and external intercostals primarily support inhalation, while exhalation activates the internal intercostals and abdominal muscles. Since these muscle groups have different maximum capacities—reflected in Maximum Inspiratory Pressure (MIP) and Maximum Expiratory Pressure (MEP)—The Breather’s distinct intensity settings are designed to optimize training for both inhalation and exhalation effectively.
